Ayanda Mhlongo

Ayanda Nomfundo Mhlongo is a leader that has occupied various positions in different organizations and structures of influence. Such experience has harnessed her leadership skills and kindled a fire within her to positively impact lives, Africa, and the globe. She has worked for and with the South African Equity Worker’s Association, the Development Action Group, Mastercard Foundation, Parliamentary Monitoring Group, Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, 8B Education Investment, Cambridge Development Initiative, and the University of Cape Town.

Her passion and experience have afforded her the opportunity to represent the young people of South Africa at the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York City and at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree (majoring in Social Development, Organizational Psychology and Gender Studies), a Bachelor of Social Sciences Honours Degree in Social Development, Master of Social Sciences Degree in Social Development from the University of Cape Town. In addition, she holds a Master of Philosophy
Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge and is a PhD candidate at
the University of Cambridge.

She is an individual that is passionate about ensuring that hordes of people are no longer begging in African cities and towns. She wants to see an end to the anxiety and fear that is felt across the length and breadth of our continent due to a lack of economic opportunities. Ayanda believes that Africa will either rise or fall based on the quality of our leaders. As a result, she lives to personify ethical and servant leadership.
