Ayokanmi Oyeyemi
Ayokanmi Oyeyemi is a Nigerian social entrepreneur, Open-Source advocate, Photographer, Political commentator and founder of Africa Open Source Foundation (AOSF) where he accelerates open data computing. He currently works as the Program strategist for Wikimedia Nigeria – the official affiliate of Wikipedia in Nigeria, where he currently oversees the strategic management of the organization, which includes providing community knowledge and leadership especially around learning and evaluation.
As an experienced Wikipedia editor, he has authored scores of African articles on Wikipedia and this has given him the opportunity to travel wide, organizing and facilitating various Wikipedia trainings around the world. Asides leading Wikimedia projects, he is also a professional photographer who specializes in commercial photography services.
In 2019, he made attempts to contest for a political state office in Nigeria and has worked with distinguished political leaders within his country as campaign manager and currently focused on grassroot political leadership.
Ayokanmi earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria, where he was a student leader, and a Master’s degree holder in Public Health from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the Daystar Leadership Academy and a Media Justice Fellow of the Bisi Alimi Foundation, an organization devoted to accelerating social acceptance of LGBTQ in Nigeria.
