Promise Onyibe

Promise Onyibe is a lawyer in Nigeria. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Ambrose Alli University and his Master of Law (LLM) from University of Benin. Throughout his career, he has contributed to impacting humanitarian outcomes through effective organization, prioritization, and execution of key projects, with a focus on human rights. He was the Deputy Director of Information of Ambrose Alli University’s Law Clinic and was part of the team that carried out human rights and child abuse campaign and was privileged to be among the team that represented the Faculty of Law at the 23rd African Human Rights Moot Court Competition which was held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Presently, he is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (Benin Branch)Human Rights Committee here he and other members of the committee have provided legal representation free of charge to several members of the society, whose human rights have been breached. His activism has also made him a

Media Justice Fellow of the Bisi Alimi Foundation, a foundation that advocates for the rights and dignity of LGBT people in Nigeria. He is also a Volunteer Lawyer with Citizen’s Gavel (a foundation aimed at increasing the pace of justice delivery through access to justice, digital technology and citizens’ engagement), The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERS), League for Social Justice (LSJ) and amongst others.

He hopes to effect a new paradigm in human rights regimes across Africa by activism, public sensitization and strengthening legislation. He is open to both local and international partnerships to achieve a truly egalitarian society throughout Africa.
