She is currently employed as a lecturer at Midlands State University in Zimbabwe. Valerie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in International Relations. Valerie was drawn to the Future Africa Fellowship after witnessing a trend in political instability in Africa.

As a young academic she is deeply appalled by the plight of graduate unemployed youths in her country and in Africa as a whole. She strongly believes that the future of Africa is in the hands of the youths and its high time the youth become Pan African and foster change in Africa. Through this fellowship Valerie hopes to get more insight on how to transform the minds and livelihoods of youths who have lost hope in their motherland.

Valerie hopes to gain knowledge that she will use in advocating for better policies and advising local authorities in her country on implementation of policies that change the livelihoods of the marginalized groups. She is an advocate for women, young girls and unemployed youths. It is her hope that egalitarianism prevails, and these groups get adequate resources that will help them contribute to the mainstream economy. She currently resides in Harare, Zimbabwe and hopes to be part of a movement that will transform Africa.
