Ndinelao Iitumba

Ndinelao Iitumba is a Software Engineer with a background in computer science and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Ambassadors Program at Future Africa, a network of passionate youth leaders across the continent who lead advocacy projects and actively campaign for the implementation of development policies at local, national, regional, and continental levels. Her role involves equipping these ambassadors with advocacy tools and supporting them in initiatives to sensitize local populations about active citizen engagement and collaboration.

Ndinelao’s passion for community empowerment and development shines as she mentors young individuals to implement and realize impactful community projects within their respective countries and communities. To date, she has mentored 11 ambassadors from various African countries, including Malawi, Zimbabwe, Morocco, and Kenya, among others. She joined Future Africa in 2023, and is instrumental in recruiting and training new ambassadors, with the ambitious goal of establishing an active community of ambassadors in 100 African cities by 2025. Her interests are primarily focused on leveraging Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D)  to enhance educational outcomes, especially in underserved communities.

She is an active member of several professional societies, such as the Internet Society Namibia Chapter, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and SIGCHI. She is the co-founder of Elimu Technologies, an organisation in Namibia focusing on the provision of digital infrastructure in rural and margenalised communities in Namibia.  Driven by a passion for utilising technology for societal benefits, Ndinelao is committed to shaping the future of education in Namibia and beyond.
